ABOUT THE MyWater PORTAL (SMSA)

The Department of Irrigation and Drainage Malaysia (DID) is a technical department that plays an important role in the management of water resources in Malaysia. In this regard, efforts to be a leader and world-class services provider in the management of water resources require the development of a management strategy and a comprehensive and effective portal to support the country’s needs.

In short, the MyWater portal is the new name for the Integrated Water Resources Information Management System after the rebranding of this portal. One of the reasons for the creation of this portal is to support the Cabinet’s direction in implementing the National Water Resources Policy Action Plan through Thrust 1, which is to strengthen water intelligence through the consolidation of data and information from various sources in accordance with the 12th Malaysia Plan: Water Sector Transformation 2040 (WST 2040) under Strategy B3: Enhancing Capacity for Data-Driven Decision-Making.

The main data providers for this portal involves DID and other water resource agencies in Malaysia such as the Malaysian Space Agency, National Disaster Management Agency, Water Supply Division, Agricultural Irrigation and Drainage Division, National Water Research Institute of Malaysia, Department of Environment, Public Works Department, Malaysian Meteorological Department, Department of Mineral and Geoscience Malaysia, Federal Department of Town and Country Planning, Forestry Department of Peninsular MalaysiaDepartment of AgricultureDepartment of Survey and Mapping MalaysiaMuda Agricultural Development Authority, Selangor Water Management Authority, National Hydrographic Centre, National Geospatial CentreNational Water Services Commission, and Tenaga Nasional Berhad.

Meanwhile, with the existence of this MyWater portal as the main integration platform, a balance can be achieved between the planning, development and management of water resources for the sustainable development of the nation’s economy as well as welfare of the people and ecology.

This is also in line with the government's efforts via WST 2040 to transform the national water sector from a support sector into a dynamic driver that ensures water security for all Malaysians and becomes a major economic sector that generates income and job opportunities.
